Interactive Family Movie - "Jurassic World"
Friday, August 7 6:00—8:30 PM

Don't just watch the movie, be a part of it! Join in the thrills and adventures of the Jurassic World dinosaur theme park in this audience-participation event! In this sequel to the original Jurassic trilogy, a new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a rampage. We'll provide props, prompt sheets, and snacks!

This program is open to family and friends groups, ages 10 and up. As the film is rated PG-13, children under age 13 must have an adult with them.

Paleontology and Fossils with Rich Harlin
Tuesday, August 11 6:00—7:00 PM

Prehistoric Lives: An Introduction to Paleontology is an engaging and accessible program designed to introduce participants to the science of studying ancient life on Earth. It provides a welcoming entry point into paleontology, the field dedicated to uncovering the history of organisms through fossils and geological evidence. Local Paleontology aficionado Rich Harlin will discuss how life has changed over millions of years, from the earliest simple organisms to the diverse plants and animals that once populated the planet, including dinosaurs, marine reptiles, and early mammals. Participants will learn how paleontologists interpret clues from fossilized bones, footprints, and microscopic remains preserved in layers of rock to reconstruct long lost environments.

Registration is required.
