Chess Club Thursday, May 14 5:30—8:00 PM Thursday, May 28 5:30-8pm Chess teaches us to think, visualize, problem solve, strategize and take risks. Play the game that spans cultures and generations. By learning chess, one of the oldest and most fascinating of games, you can make a friend and learn a little sportsmanship. Our Chess Club meets the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month at 5:30pm. Reading Fur-iend Brianna! Monday, May 4 3:30—5:00 PM Monday, May 18 3:30—5:00 PM Brianna the Therapy Dog will be at the library to help children that are not comfortable reading out-loud in front of others (or being around dogs) feel more relaxed. She loves when kids who love animals come to read to her, even if they are already comfortable readers. No registration required! Children are welcome to stop by the visit with Brianna any time between 3:30pm and 5pm.
After-School ArtVenture! Wednesday, May 6 4:00—5:00 PM Wednesday, May 20 4:00—5:00 PM Stop by for our newest after-school crafting program! Miss Julie will have an array of craft projects for children ages 5 to 11 years to choose from. No registration is required - just stop by any time between 4pm and 5pm!
Baby Meets Baby Thursday, May 21 11:00—11:30 AM Friday, May 22 12:30—1:00 PM Join us for our newest children's program! Baby Meets Baby is for 7 to 17 month olds and their caregivers to interact - with themselves, with each other, and with the Library! Caregivers can enjoy the relaxed environment to converse together while they help their Littles explore educational toys and board books. This playtime will encourage hands-on exploration of the senses, spatial reasoning, hand-eye coordination, socialization, and more! This program is for babies 7 to 17 months. Children MUST be able to sit on their own, unassisted and without support. Only one caregiver may attend, as this program will be held in a small area of the Children's Room. No registration required - just stop by!
The Library will be closed Saturday, May 23rd through Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. None of our items are due back on these days. We will reopen at 10am on Tuesday the 26th.
Unearth a Story Summer Art Show! We are asking Kids & Teens to make a poster showing their interpretation of our Summer Reading theme: Unearth A Story! Posters should feature our theme's elements: dinosaurs, prehistoric times, archeology, discovery, and adventures into our past! All submissions will be displayed in our gallery throughout July and August. We will also host a very special Artist Reception for all participants on Friday, July 17th at 6pm.
