About the Library:
The Pleasant Valley Free Library is a free association library operating under the laws of the State of New York governing Free Libraries. The chief objective of the Library is to provide the people of Pleasant Valley with an effective, friendly, and responsive Free Library service of high quality, capable of evolving and expanding with the needs of the community.
In addition to the library’s collection of books and CDs and DVDs, the library offers computer, fax, and photocopier services.
The library offers six computers with free access to both the internet and word processing. Printing costs $0.10 per page. One hour appointments may be made. A library card from the Mid-Hudson Library System is necessary to use the computers.
A fax machine is also available at the cost of $1 per page. A photocopier is also available for $0.15 a page.
Individuals without a library card can sign up for a library card good at any library in the Mid-Hudson Library System.
Most books are allowed to be checked out for 3 weeks, and renewable for another three if there are no holds on them.
There are fiction and non-fiction videos, DVDs, and magazines available for children and adults and these may be checked out for 1 week at a time.
Books-on-cassette, Books-on-CD, and CD-ROMs are allowed to be taken home for 3 weeks.
The library is part of the Inter-Library Loan System and can get any book, video, CD a patron would like. If a book is not in at the moment, or the library does not own it, we would be happy to place it on hold, or request it via Inter-Library Loan. Most books can be made available within a week.
We offer programs and activities for adults, including a book discussion group that meets the second Wednesday of every month. Check our program calendar for specific title information or 845-635-8460 for information.

The Pleasant Valley Free Library is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of 13 members. They meet on the second Thursday of every month. Our trustees are:
