Library Journal has written a wonderful article about our library and how we are handling this devastating situation. Please read it here.

We are looking forward to opening at 3 Maggiacomo Lane in the New Year! We’d like to thank the Redls for everything they are doing to help us get up and running as soon as possible, as well as Hudson Valley Office Furniture for giving us amazing discounts on the furniture we need to purchase. While we do not have an opening date yet, please know that we are eager to open our doors again soon!

We would also like to thank the members and businesses of our community who have organized fundraising events for the library. We are so touched by everyone’s support and generosity. In no particular order, we would like to extend our gratitude to:
Hudson Valley Horrors Roller Derby, the PV Brownies and Madison’s Pizza Café, Lilymoore Farm, Taqueria Los Ortiz, the Tivoli Library and Oblong Books, Brookside Meadows, Harmon & Castella.

Our local schools have also been a huge part in fundraising for us as well. Many  thanks to: Arlington High School for placing donation jars throughout the school, the Traver and West Road Schools for collecting donations (and Mrs. Ogborn for matching donations!), and the Haviland Middle, LaGrange Middle, and West Road schools for allowing us to have an information table to thank the community as well as collect donations at their winter concerts.

If you would like to purchase a Rebuilding Together button to support the library, the following local businesses have been gracious enough to sell them for us: Country Thistle Holiday Pop-Up Shop, PV Department Store, The Village Restaurant.

Finally, we would like to thank each and every community member who braved the cold and rain to decorate the fence surrounding the library for the Festival of Lights celebration. The outpouring of support and festivity was astounding to us, and we could not have asked for anything more. We plan to save as many of the decorations as possible.

The Pleasant Valley Library has won Hudson Valley Parent Magazine’s Spirit of Giving Sweepstakes! Many thanks to everyone who nominated us to win $500 worth of children’s books. We are so humbled and excited to receive this generous gift. You can read the article, including numerous comments from those who nominated us, on the HV Parent Magazine website.

Here is a list of upcoming fundraisers and community events that support the library. Please consider joining us!

  • Monday, December 17th 5:15pm – West Road School – library staff will be at the Winter Concert to provide information regarding the status of the library

We’d like to give a shout-out to Billy Hayes and his family for sending us this awesome gingerbread house he made of the library! Here is his mom’s message: “Hello all, Last night our family took home the prize for “best theme” at a gingerbread house design competition. We based our design on the library, and coincidentally (or not), the prize was a firefighter nutcracker! I just wanted to share the pictures with you all. Have a happy and healthy holiday season!”
